Provider Spotlight 26 May 2018
Dr. Ken Robertson
Dr. Ken Robertson has been practicing medicine in Laramie, Wyoming for over 40 years. Dr. Robertson comes from a family of healthcare providers so it was no surprise he chose to study medicine. With the strong encouragement from a mentor and professor, he decided on internal medicine as his specialty.
In 1977, after his service in the Air Force, Dr. Robertson moved to Laramie and started practicing as a Board Certified Internist. After many years in private practice, he joined our Hospitalist team 10 years ago.
At the age of 12, Dr. Robertson took a Boy Scout trip to a camp near Taos, New Mexico. Having grown up on the east coast, he hadn’t experienced anything like the sunrises and mountains in the west. During that trip, he told himself, “I’ll be treading water until I get back here.” It wasn’t until after med school, during his residency in Denver, that Dr. Robertson found his way back to the west. Dr. Robertson and his wife own a ranch outside of town and he spends every fall guiding hunters near the Green River Lakes. He loves Laramie for the small community feel, the university, and the opportunities he has to teach students.
Dr. Robertson is passionate about teaching and has supported the education of future medical professionals for 40 years. He has taught classes for the College of Health Sciences at the University of Wyoming, supported the research of master and doctoral students, served on the Institutional Review Board at UW, and was involved with the WWAMI Program since its inception until 2016.
Dr. Robertson contributes to a strong team of Hospitalists, many of whom have been working together for close to 20 years. We work well together, and can take better care of patients because of it,” he said when speaking about the continuity of care the Hospitalist team provides. As Dr. Robertson transitions from active, inpatient practice, he is excited about the growth Ivinson is seeing in outpatient opportunities, specifically, with the rehabilitation programs.
We are grateful Dr. Robertson chose to build his career here in Laramie and provide exceptional care to our community through the years!
